The festival
is a celebration of 200 years since the birth in 1808 of the renowned
19th century harpist and composer, Elias Parish Alvars, in Teignmouth.
The festival begins with a harp competition for under 14s on 24th
and 25th February, followed by a series of lectures and concerts
later in the week. 'Hands on Harps' workshops for complete beginners
or new players wanting some technical coaching are also being held
on Wednesday 27th February. For further details please contact us
in the shop or have a look at the festival web site www.eliasparishalvars-festival.com
We
shall have a wide range of Camac’s folk and pedal harps available
for you to see and play, together with harp music, a full range
of strings and other accessories including lightweight covers,
heavy duty covers, stools for folk harps and pedal harps, music
stands, trolleys and electronic tuners.
We
will be joined at the exhibition by Creighton’s
Collection, a company selling CDs and sheet music by independent
musicians, composers and publishers. Their sheet music includes the
vast Adlais Music Catalogue which has an extensive number of Parish
Alvars pieces.
If you cannot
attend, and would like details of Camac’s range of harps, please
let us know and we will be pleased to send you a copy of our full
